I need my running fix no matter what. Day or night, it doesn’t matter. Without it, things aren’t pretty!
One night though, something happened that changed everything…
I remember it so clearly. It was a dark and crisply cold night in the countryside, ‘thud, thud, thud” my usual running pace, I felt good! When ‘SCREEEEECH’, the sound of a car desperately trying to stop.
I’d run up a familiar bit a poorly lit stretch of road that I’d run a thousand times before but this time was different. Maybe the driver was distracted or maybe I wasn’t visible enough…but I turned just in time to see a set of headlight approaching.
Luckily the car screeched to a stop, right before my knees. Wide-eyed I stood there frozen. This was almost an entirely different story and I was nearly another sad statistic. My family was close too losing a son, father, husband…I HAD TO DO SOMETHING
